THENDARA DEPOT

Thendara is our station leading to the central Adirondacks.  Located two miles south of Old Forge, our Thendara station is directly adjacent to NY Route 28 - you can't miss it!

Old Forge is one of the primary destinations for visitors to the Adirondacks.  It's a great place to visit for a day or to stay for a week, or a summer, or even a lifetime.  These are the Adirondacks; mountains, lakes, trails, horseback riding, chairlift, seaplane rides, New York's largest water park, boat tours, inns and hotels, great restaurants, mini-golf, golf, antiques and more!

Thendara Depot is the home office for the Adirondack Scenic Railroad.  The Depot and adjacent facilities include ticket office, railroad museum, gift shop, clean restrooms and outdoor picnic tables.  Nearby are located our railroad shop building and freight house used for stores.  Parking lots for vehicles and buses are nearby and the facility is handicap accessible.  
 

Visitors are welcome to visit the Thendara Depot anytime 
but visiting at train time is best.  Watch all the activity.

Across the street from the depot is located Van Auken's Inne, a 100 year-old hotel, featuring 12 guest rooms, full dining room, bar and lounge.  Dining in the Adirondacks in style.

This site was created to help the Adirondack Scenic Railroad and promote tourism along the 141-mile corridor of the railroad.  The Adirondack Scenic RR operates seasonal trains from several locations including Thendara/Old Forge, Utica, Saranac Lake and Lake Placid.
