Adirondack Scenic RR C425 #4243 debuted for the 2004 season in a fresh coat of green & black paint. Our train consisted of the 4243 on the north end and a borrowed Mohawk, Adirondack & Northern C425 #2453 on the south end. For the most part, the 4243 was the daytime star while the 2453 provided some excellent views for the night session. [View at right is the 4243 on Kayuta Trestle.] As with most Adirondack Scenic RR Railfan Weekends, the events included a Friday evening slide show [Hotel Utica], Saturday all-day bi-directional excursion train, evening night session [Remsen, NY] and the ticket was valid for all Sunday trains. |

The waterfall view is at Little
Woodhull Creek, Forestport. Again the trestle view
is at Kayuta. Alco 4243 smokes it up entering Remsen. The vertical
view of
the unit's nose is at Utica. Snow Junction is the junction at which the
Adirondack
trackage splits off from the MA&N. Note the early morning MA&N view in
Utica shows
the modern walkover built to facilitate passengers at Utica Union Station.
The night session was held at Remsen on a gorgeous evening.
In 2004, the Adirondack Scenic hosted another excellent Railfan's Weekend!
