Railfan Day 2004
May 15, 2004

The Finger Lakes Railway hosted an excellent Railfan's Day, basing the event
from their Geneva, NY terminal.  The all-day excursion and night session
in the Geneva yard were a great opportunity for fans to
photograph and ride this excellent New York State shortline.

Finger Lakes Railfan's Day 2004

The Lehigh Valley Railroad Historical Society of Manchester, New York, sponsored the first ever Railfan's Day on the Finger Lakes Railway on Saturday, May 15, 2004. An all-day special photographers passenger train excursion was  operated from Geneva, New York, to Solvay, New York, and return using two FGLK diesel locomotives painted in the New York Central "lightning stripe" paint scheme and two Finger Lakes Scenic Railway passenger coaches. There were numerous photo stops during the ten hour, 100 mile round trip over the former New York Central "Auburn Road" railroad line through the Finger Lakes region of New York State.  A night photo session was held at the Geneva engine house in the evening.

Thanks to the Finger Lakes Railway crew of Kevin Buckland, Trainmaster; Bruce Habberfield, Conductor; and Mike Hall, Engineer for their outstanding service and cooperation.  Thanks to the LVRRHS volunteers for their efforts - Ken May, Bill Young, and Dave Fleenor.  Special thanks to Duncan Richards for coordinating the photo runbys and Tom Trencansky for conducting the night photo session.

Watch for future trips on the FGLK.  Visit the LVRRHS web site at www.lvrrhs.org.
