American steam disappeared in the 1950's with a few exceptions which have mostly survived for excursion train service and use on local tourist operations.  There are still more than a hundred of these engines in regular excursion service in the US.  The following are favorite views of steam locomotives photographed during the past 30 years.  I hope you enjoy them.
