New York Railroads

Delaware & Hudson Railroad
Photographs by Tom Trencansky

Winter 2004-2005 finds our favorite D&H fairly healthy with regular traffic patterns and trains running north and south out of Binghamton, NY as well as west to Buffalo.  There  are still several of the EMD GP38-2's that operate on locals in the traditional D&H lightning striped paint scheme but  most trains now operate with a mix of CP, NS, CN Soo Line and leased power.  It's still a pleasant experience to sit trackside and watch or photograph a long train running north up Belden Hill on the old D&H, through Tunnel, and on to Ninevah, NY and points north.  Many times, trains will still meet there.  Likewise, following a southbound out of Conklin Yard towards Taylor, PA might allow you to photograph a meet with a northbound.  The paint scheme may have changed but many of these people are still our friends from the D&H and the spirit of the line continues on.
Long Live the D&H!

It really doesn't matter whether the lead locomotive is painted D&H, or CP, or StL&H.

This railroad will always be the Delaware & Hudson!
