The D&H - always a great line to watch, follow and photograph. The following are a series of photographs taken over the years, mostly near the Binghamton, NY area. Operations have always been interesting and the transition from D&H to Guilford, to NYS&W control, with motive power going back to D&H lightning stripe scheme, then the changeover to CP, St Lawrence & Hudson, and even the new CP/NS/CN operating partnership have given us plenty of opportunity to enjoy this treasure! |

Photo locations as follows: CP, NS and CN GE units are all on trains this
past fall [2004] in the Binghamton, NY area.
During the early days of the CP takeover, a fleet of MLW/Alco's prevailed, along
with plenty of
regular CP SD40-2's. Much earlier, the old-time D&H had a period in
which plenty of Alcos, as well as
Sharknose and PA's hauled the freight. The final view is one of Milwaukee
261 leading a southbound
Steamtown passenger extra near New Milford, PA.
